Yvonne Ford is the founder of a unique institution, the Centre for Communication in Health Care, located in Frankfurt, Germany. The Centre has focused for over 20 years on communication training for professionals in health care. Nurses, doctors, midwives, physiotherapists, and hospital social workers appreciate the competent and skilled teaching in an atmosphere conducive to effective learning.

Nurses and doctors have passed through courses with Yvonne Ford on the way to work placements or jobs in England, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, the United States of America, Australia, New Zealand, and many other countries around the world.

Yvonne Ford was born in North Carolina, USA, and attended Winthrop College in South Carolina. Her Bacherlor's degree was in education, English and French. Her training in teaching English for speakers of other languages (TESOL) was conducted in England at the Sheffield-Hallam University and with Trinity College in London, England.

In addition to teaching courses and managing the affairs of the Centre for Communication in Health Care, Yvonne Ford is an adjunct lecturer in English at the Private University Witten/ Herdecke and at the University of Applied Sciences of Frankfurt am Main.

Yvonne Ford is the author of "Nursing English essentials" published by the Hans Huber Publishing in Bern, Switzerland, and of "Patient Interview and Physical Examinaton" published by the Gustav Fischer Verlag. She has written a monthly column on nursing English for a German nursing magazine "Heilberufe" for the last five years. In addition, Yvonne Ford has organised professional exchanges for nurses and doctors to England, Malta, Ireland, Canada and the USA for over 15 years. She also works as a coach for individuals and teams who work in healthcare institutions and social institutions and teaches a seminar on "culture-sensitive communication in healthcare."
